HAPPY TO HELP: Lipan juniors (from left) Madi H, Grace H and Dylan S enjoyed teaming up with fellow student council and National Honor Society members to serve the huge crowd of first responders.

TEAM BBQ: The entire Lipan High School barbecue team lined up to serve to a packed cafeteria of hungry volunteer fire department staff and other first responders from the Hood County area.

MUCH APPRECIATED: Lipan Fire Department’s Kevin Andrews enjoys a warm embrace from friend and supporter Laura Smith at the Lipan first responder appreciation barbecue.

FIRST RESPONDERS HONORED: Granbury Fire Department’s Tim Hallman proudly shows the certificate handed out to all the volunteer teams at the Lipan community appreciation barbecue dinner.

A ROUND OF APPLAUSE: The first responders who helped fight the Big L fire were recognized for their service with certificates, delicious barbecue and a well-deserved ovation.

In appreciation for all their hard work in dousing the Big L wildfire that threatened the town and school on March 20, the community of Lipan hosted a meal for all the first responders. The meal included bar-b-que and fixin's that was provided by the Lipan High School Bar-B-Que team.
