JH (7th/8th) Band Announcements
JH GOLD AND BLUE BANDS
7th and 8th grade band members went through an audition process at the end of the previous school year, and were placed into two bands: the Gold Band (varsity band) and the Blue Band (junior varsity band). The students' placements were based not only on playing ability for the audition, but also overall attitude, work ethic, and behavior throughout the school year. Students may be able to move up to Gold band or down to Blue band after the Christmas break at Mr. Ash's discretion.
CASH COW FUNDRAISER
We will begin our annual Cash Cow Cookie Dough Fundraiser on Tuesday, September 23, and it will last for two weeks. Use this opportunity to help pay for your upcoming band trips!
AWARDS SYSTEM
We are trying out a new awards system this year for 6th-8th grade band members.
The way it works is all students start off each 6 weeks with 100 points. If expectations are not followed during class, a standard 2 points (or more depending on how severe the offense) will be deducted from that student. If students keep their points above 85 by the end of the 6 weeks, then they will be rewarded with a fun event. The first one is a Board/Card Game and Pizza Night, which will be on Thursday, 9/25, at 6pm in the cafeteria. The students who earn this award may come and play various board games or card games provided. They are also welcome to bring their own! Pizza will also be provided.
Mr. Ash will be sending emails to parents if a student's points gets down to 90. Hope to see you there!
JH ALL-REGION BAND AUDITIONS
JH All-Region Band Auditions will be held at Henderson JH in Stephenville on Saturday, November 8. Students who audition and place high enough will have the honor and opportunity to perform in the All-Region Band at the Tarleton State University auditorium. If interested, please let Mr. Ash know as soon as possible so that he can get the audition music to you.
CHRISTMAS CONCERT
The Lipan Bands will perform their annual Christmas concert on Thursday, December 11, in the new gym beginning at 6pm.
